Transcript or Index | Calke Abbey The Beeches, [struck out] Ross, [struck out] Herefordshire [struck out] 25th June / 96 Miss S Hamp Adams does not know if Sir Vauncey Crewe wishes a dated receipt – she means a … with a stamp on it. She wishes sincerely that the abominable money was at the bottom of the sea. She would like to take this opportunity of telling Sir Vauncey how sorry she is he has disliked her being in the house so much the horrible fact of hearing this has been simply unbearable. Miss S Hamp Adams thanks Sir Vauncey & Lady Crewe for any kindness they may have shown her while she was with them & she thinks under other circumstances she might have been really happy at Calke. The girls are so charming. Will Miss Hamp Adams see Sir Vauncey before she leaves tomorrow? at about 11 she believes there is a train.
