Copy of will dated 26 Dec 1767 of Joshua Booth of Ridgeway, parish Eckington yeoman, bequeathing to Robert Turner sicklesmith of Ridgeway son of Robert Turner of Ridgeway moor side the house and garden where Godfrey Haslam dwells, Turner paying to John Madin sicklesmith £10 and to his sister Hannah Turner £5, to John Earnshaw son of John Earnshaw sicklesmith £5 when he is 21; to Anne Booth of Ridgeway widow the house in Ridgway where Thomas Staton lives and the garden adjoining it and a piece of land called a Coal fold between the house where John Earnshaw lives and the garden adjoining it, also the house and garden where John Haslam lives, until her youngest son William is 21, when the premises bequeathed to Anne are to be sold and the proceeds to be divided amongst the children of Anne then living viz Sarah, Anne, Joseph, Henry, William, Ellen and Mary; to brother Jonathan the house, fold, barn, smithy, cowhouse, swinecot, the croft adjoining the house and close called Sower Butts containing 3½ acres, now in possession of John Earnshaw, for Jonathan's life, at his death the rents to go to Anne Booth widow until her son Henry is 21, when he shall have these premises, Henry or his heirs if Henry is dead paying to John Madin sicklesmith £20; brother Jonathan is not to cut down any wood on the land left him by Joshua; to brother Joseph sicklesmith 5s; to Mary wife of Godfrey Wright of Beighton 5s; to Hannah wife of Robert Turner of Ridgeway moor side 5s; to Anne Booth widow all his personal estate, household goods, money etc since she is paying the testator's debts, funeral charges and legacies; Anne Booth is appointed sole executrix, George Bowns of parish of Eckington is appointed to see the will is fulfilled. Joshua made his mark. Proved 26 April 1769
