Description of accident: While repairing tub road a nail flew from hammer block and struck the eye
Further information: Because of the accident - a 'severe perforating injury' - the eye was enucleated and an artificial eye fitted. Disablement assessment started at 50 per cent and was reduced which prompted the appeal. Lindsey wrote: 'I appeal against my disablement pension being reduced to 40 per cent as I consider that I have suffered a greater loss of faculty both socialy and industrialy.' The Tribunal findings included: 'The injury is assessed according to standards laid down. [...] If later on the other eye gives trouble, he can alwasy ask for another Medical Board; but at present his only complaint of the other eye is the need for glasses'.
