It was initially referred to as prescribed disease no 24(b) and the extent of disablement was assessed at 15 per cent from 6 July 1950 to 5 January 1951. According to the Appeal referral, the Insurance Officer decided that the condition was as a result of attending the pit head baths and deemed it to be an industrial accident. A handwritten note dated 8 September 1950 states 'Wants to know what to do about appealling - wants to start work.' A further handwritten note states 'Working on light job. carrying steel Rings. still a bit on feet.' On appeal, dated 8 November 1950, the tribunal increased the extent of disablement to 20 per cent, for 6 months. This was then increased to 30 per cent by a Medical Board examination on 21 December 1950. |
