X-ray report January 1951 stated: 'Metallic FBs present in the soft tissues beside the patella'. Cooper wrote to NUM stating: 'I wish to make an appeal against the Medical Board's decision [...] No loss of faculty. [...] During the last 12 months I have been doing very light work, Stone-Dusting and Transfer-Point, even so duirng that time my knee is swollen up on several occasions'.
