Medical Appeal Tribunal case file for John Carrington, aged 48, Packer and timber drawer at [colliery not stated], relating to an Industrial Accident
Date
1951
Description
Date of birth: 09/07/1902
Marital status: Not given
Address: 4 Arundel Road, Newbold Moor, Chesterfield
Type of injury: Injury - head
Description of accident: Steel prop hit the forehead causing concussion
Further information: Carrington worked as a belt repairer at time of Appeal. 'We see no reason why with a little self help this man's condition shouldn't clear up completely in a short time. We vary the decision of the last medical board by making the assessment provisional instead of final'. Slip of paper included states: 'We have been medically advised that certain information (that boxed in red) may be detrimental to the claimant [...] Hospital notes also witheld.' No such red markings noted but the neurological opinion of January 1951 concluded: 'I think his symptoms are all psychological'.
