Description of accident: Whilst driving ponies underground, he caught his hand on a moving tub.
Further information: Cellulitis, a septic arm and blood poisoning noted as consequences of the finger injury and these led to skin grafting. Also a diagnosis of epilepsy was noted 14 months after the accident although apparently Bell's doctor had told the Handley Branch Secretary that Bell had suffered from fits before the accident. Tribunal summary: 'There is a possibility that the epilepsy has been aggravated by the relevant accident'.
