Further information: Hind had an accident on 4 April 1950 which was assessed at 6 per cent for life. The medical board reported on 29 August 1950 that 3 toes of his right foot had been amputated. The notes on the submission of appeal states 'The assessment laid down for the normal case of the loss of three toes of one foot, excluding great toe[...] is 6 per cent' This was increased on appeal to 8 per cent for life.
