Description of accident: Withdrawing a bar and a piece of stone fell across his hips
Further information: There is a doctor's report dated 27 August 1952 detailing medical history of tuberculosis and previous accidents. He had a bone grafting operation in February 1950 and spent time in Harlow Wood Orthopaedic Hospital. Various paperwork including a handwritten letter from the claimant is included. Worked as a Ripper, but now as an Assistant Timekeeper. The Tribunal submission states 'Walks with a limp and uses a stick.' The letter of appeal dated 5 May 1952 by the claimant states 'I used to love a bit of sport also gardening but now I am just a looker on, I have cycled all over the country before my accident but now I could'nt ride up our garden path. I expect you think I am one of the moaning minnies but that is not so I am one who likes faration but if what you assess me at (40%) is fare than its time to pack up.' Hospital notes are included ('not included in claimant's papers')
