There is a large amount of paperwork relating to the case including hospital notes which state he required a blood transfusion was necessary - he had fractured his leg. He had been a collier for 41 years and according to the Commissioner's notes dated 22 April 1952 the claimant had fractured his leg whilst preventing a pony from bolting. There is argument as to whether the claimant's leg was plated. This case went to a Local Appeal Tribunal on 14 January 1952 regarding Special Hardship Allowance. The claimant worked as a haulage hand after the injury. |
