Further information: This accident caused a recurrence of an inguinal hernia which had been operated on after an accident in August 1948 and again in May 1951 after it strangulated . A 3 per cent life settlement was awarded from January 1951 and this was set aside in the last Medical Appeal Tribunal's findings.
