Further information: From the Divisonal Medical Officer's letter to Ministry of National Insurance, 17 October 1951: ''senility beyond years - B.P. 182/104. There is much longstanding neurosis. […]Herniotomy July 1951 and in view of man's age of 64 years and type of labouring work in pit I would suggest a further reference if still claiming in 2/12. Present condition is consistent with alleged injury. [...] the insured person is incapable of work'. The Denby Hall Branch NUM officer wrote to Mr Kitts, Arrea Compensation Agent to include the relevant papers with a P.S. 'Please call at my home sometime when you are passing.'. No further award was made and the findings noted: ' The hernia is repaired, and we do not think the hypertension and neurosis to be connected with the operation'.
