Further information: According to the Summary of facts the claimant felt a pain in his right groin when lifting a steel bar. Following this he claimed Disablement Benefit and Special Hardship Allowance. At the time the claimant was on 'general face oddwork, earning an average of £13.0.0. per week as compared with pre-accident wage of £19.12.6.' The claim for Special Hardship Allowance was was disallowed from 11 November 1959 on the grounds that he was capable of working as a stripper. A Medical Board had awarded a lifetime assessment of 3 per cent. The tribunal decision of 4 November 1959 was in the claimant's favour.
