He was hit on the forehead by a pipe on 15 February 1958 and received injury benefit from 28 February 1958 to 15 August 1958, and sickness benefit from 16 August 1958 to 9 December 1958. He was assessed by a Medical Board and they decided on 5 per cent final. Following this he was considered fit for his regular occupation at a Medical Board on 20 January 1959. There was an appeal to a Medical Appeal Tribunal who upheld the decision. The claimant went back to work as a Conveyor Operator on 10 December 1958 and Special Hardship Allowance was paid until 20 January 1959. The Medical Board Report dated 20 January 1959 states 'No abnormal physical signs. He is nervous.' He had been suffering from blackouts and headaches as outlined in a handwritten letter by the claimant. He states 'I had the headache all the weekend and had a blackout while cycling to work at Monday morning on the Friday night previous I was doing a job that meant keeping my head down all the shift and that brought the headaches.' Report from claimant's own doctor certified days lost due to consequences of head injury. |
