On 6 August 1959 a Medical Board decided 'This man has powerful use of right arm and board considers that he is making most of his disability. Very lucky to have received a 15% disability.' A specialist opinion dated 15 September 1959 confirmed the opinion of the Medical Board which is included. Special Hardship Allowance was disallowed from 2 September 1959. The claimant's grounds of appeal dated 15 October 1959 states 'I cannot do heavy work with my arm, it is a bad injury [...] see that I get my compensation [...]' The tribunal on 29 October 1959 found in favour of the claimant. and Special Hardship Allowance was awarded at 34s. 0d. per week until 30 August 1960. Further information in the Tribunal Report includes 'A borer's occupation consists of holding up a drill and putting pressure behind it to form a hole into the coal or rock' and details about pre and post accident wages. |
