Date1958
DescriptionDate of birth:
Marital status: Married
Address: Not given, Not given
Type of benefit claimed: Special Hardship Allowance
Type of injury: Injury - shoulder
Further information: Mr Kitts of NUM gave in evidence: 'I do not agree that £15.10.3. is in fact the average earnings now of a ripper. The average earnings now of a Conveyor operator are £9.16.0. only. […] for a number of years, in the National Interest, overtime was worked, under a special arrangement abrogating the 5 day week, means that the overtime earnings were exceptional. Overtime has now ceased and the measure of comparison should be the national earnings of a ripper without overtime and of a conveyor attendance without overtime'. Afterwards Street asked about claiming for a lost day's wages to attend the Tribunal which had been refused by the Chairman.
