Further information: According to the summary of facts on the appeal referral, the claimant injured his hand when some stone fell from the roof and caught his hand on 15 March 1954. Special Hardship Allowance was disallowed from 26 November 1958. The tribunal decision on 17 December 1958 found in favour of the claimant. It is noted in the evidence recorded by the Chairman that 'In my job would have to use hammer, pick and a ringer, could not do it. [...] I am now a supply man, earns £10 basic. Maximum £13. Wage as a Ripper about £22.'
