The Insurance officer submission quoted a Commissioner's decision that 'a claimant who deliberately refrains from claiming sickness benefit because he does not expect to be ill for long, does not show good casue '. Hurt did not attend and relied on his grounds of appeal: 'As you will see from my records I have only gone on N.I. with my old injury to back for the last two or three years. Which [...] occurs more often than I go on the club. Very often I have found that 2 or 3 days complete rest will enable me to carry on work'.
