Further information: According to the Summary of facts on the Appeal referral, the claimant injured his back on 11 December 1956 when he slipped whilst lifting a boring machine. On 30 January 1957 the claimant resumed work as a bar straightener at a lower wage and Special Hardship Allowance was paid from 30 January 1957 to 4 February 1958. It was disallowed from 5 February 1958. The most recent occupation was as a Conveyor attendant. The tribunal decision on 11 March 1958 was favourable to the claimant and Special Hardship Allowance was paid at 27/6d per week from 5 February 1958 to 11 February 1958 and 34/-d from 12 February 1958 to 5 August 1958.
