Further information: The summary of facts on the Appeal to tribunal paperwork dated 7 March 1956 states that Mr Longden had an industrial accident on 23 March 1951 when he struck his right elbow against a conveyor pen. He was awarded disablement benefit which reduced in perecntages until 29 April 1953 when he was assessed at 5 per cent for life. His pre accident occupation was as a Main gate Dinter (details of the job provided are 'gate dinter…a very heavy job…you are required to be able to use a compressed air machine pick and hammer, shovel and pick, and all the dirt has to be lifted.') His post accident employment was as dataller and belt patrol. There are more details within the paperwork relating to the types of work. There is a handwritten Doctor's report (undated). Handwritten notes dated 26 March 1956 state 'Case up for hearing 22/3/56. N. I. did not notify us. Case adjourned.' Following this a notification of hearing states 5 April 1956 as the hearing date but there is no report of proceedings. The latest paperwork refers to an 'Application for leave to appeal to Commissioner' and a pencilled note that says 'filed 6/3/57 - not heard anything further'
