Further information: Industrial Death Benefit claim for the widow of Joseph Edwin Elliott who died on 15 March 1969 and who had worked as a coal miner from 1910 to 1960. Findings of Tribunal: 'The deceased suffered from pneumoconiosis for over nine years. The Pathologist found that the cause of death was associated with emphysema and pneumoconiosis'. One Tribunal member dissented: 'The deceased was 73 years of age and at that age one would expect death from natural causes'. Note: 'Any widow's retirement benefit already paid to be offset'.
