Date | 1953 |
Description | Date of birth: 24/08/1891 Marital status: Married Address: Not given, Not given Type of benefit claimed: Special Hardship Allowance Type of injury: Groin strain Further information: Barker had been assessed previously at 10 per cent for life from 3 February 1950 and was consequently awarded a disablement gratuity of £82 10s 0d on this basis. He was also awarded a Disablement Pension of 40 per cent covering the period 3 August 1949 to 2 February 1950. According to the Insurance Officer, on 2 February 1949 Barker slipped when 'lifting a lump of stone for packing and strained his groin'. A final notice of the tribunal's verdict has not survived but It appears that Barker's claim was unsuccessful - a pencil note at front of the file reads, 'Lost' - and that the original assessment of 10 per cent for life remained unchanged. |
