Further information: In letter to Mr Parkin NUM Compensation Agent from A Winning Colliery Manager dated 28 December 1960 : 'the dispute between Mr Hill and the Ministry of Pensions and National Insurance has been going on for three months or more […] the Ministry expects Colliery Management to be able to state what a man would have been doing now had he not been injured some time previously'. Branch Secretary at Blackwell No 1 wrote: 'Had this man been fit for his own work he would have had to drive a pony, plate-laying, transporting material'. Weekend working and overtime also areas of dispute.
