Title
Local Appeal Tribunal case file for William Thomas Hadby, aged 62, Underground belt man at Swanwick
Date
1960
Description
Date of birth:
Marital status: Single
Address: Ravensthorpe, Derby Road, Swanwick
Type of benefit claimed: Industrial injury benefit
Type of injury: Injury - back
Further information: Initially Hadley's back pain was diagnosed as sciatica due to spondylosis, which was shown on X-ray, therefore not attributable to his accident. An initial hearing on 23 August 1960 was adjourned, following which an orthopaedic report gave 'his trouble was due to pressure on the nerve root in the back, and the most probable cause was a prolapsed disc [...] there cannot be any doubt that the injury was responsible'.
