Title
Local Appeal Tribunal case file for John Andrew Coogan, aged 35, [job not stated] at Markham Main
Date
1951
Description
Date of birth: 01/09/1915
Marital status: Married
Address: Not given, Not given
Type of benefit claimed: Injury benefit
Type of injury: Injury - leg
Further information: Local Appeal Tribunal for Injury benefit heard at Chesterfield and the Tribunal's decision was found in favour of Coogan. Uncertainty was around the fact that after initial treatment for a laceration of the leg was completed and the claimant had returned to work, Coogan was certified as having a cellulitis a bit higher up the same leg and it was noted : 'States he gets very frequently knocked at work'. Tribunal was convinced by records from the Markham Colliery Medical Room that the claimant had been attending regularly for treatment when a small piece of 'wire came out' and thus related second episode of illness to the first.
