Administrative History | Anthony Norton (c1785-1861) was a farm bailiff living at Green Lane, Burbage (1851 census).
Isaac, son of Samuel (b. c1784) and Ellen, Norton (1829-1900) married Martha Etchells (1843-1920) in 1867. They lived at Plex Farm (fl 1865-fl 1911), Isaac's brother, Frederick (c1837-1903) also lived with them until his death. Issac, son of Isaac and Martha, continued to work Plex Farm after his parents deaths until at least 1939. Their daughter, Mary Elizabeth married Henry Morten of Chelmorton on 21 December 1914, and both Mary and Henry Morten lived at Plex Farm with Issac (source: D1898/8 and 1939 National Register). |
Custodial History | D1898/1-7 were donated by a private individual in March 1978, having been found whilst clearing a relative’s house - nothing further is known of their provenance. D1898/8 was donated by a different member of the public in April 2024 who had previously purchased them at auction. The two lots purchased were both described as 'bundle of papers' included items relating to other counties as well, only the Derbyshire items were donated.
