Administrative History | Eyre Family of Hassop Hall. Hassop Hall was the seat of the Eyre family from the late fifteenth century. The hall was entirely rebuilt in 1827-1833. Francis Eyre assumed the title of the Earl of Newburgh in 1814. In the mid nineteenth century the estate passed to Col C S Leslie of Balquhain, a relative by marriage. There were a number of legal cases, most notably Leslie v Cave, regarding the title to the estate, in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. |
