Administrative History | The Peak Methodist Circuit was first established in 1944, with the amalgamation of the North Derbyshire Mission (ex-Wesleyan) Circuit and Bakewell (ex-Primitive) Methodist Circuit. In 1948 it merged with the Bradwell (ex-Primitive) Circuit to become the Peak and Bradwell Methodist Circuit. In 1958, it became known again as the Peak Methodist Circuit.
In 1948 there were 35 chapels in the circuit. By 1984 the number had reduced to 26, consisting of the chapels at Ashford, Bakewell, Great Longstone, Youlgreave, Birchover, Elton, Baslow, Bamford, Calver, Eyam, Grindleford, Hathersage, Thornhill, Woodlands, Beeley, Rowsley, Bradwell, Castleton, Hope, Great Hucklow, Peak Forest, Sparrowpit, Litton, Tideswell and Edale. |
