TitleDeclaration of Charles Potter of Matlock, miner. He is sixty five years of age and has resided in the Upper Wood in Matlock during the greater portion of his life. For more than forty years he has been acquainted with the estate of Henry Salkeld James Collingwood, esq., comprised in and forming lots 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 of the land included in the printed particulars of sale (see T43). Lot 6 and the close of land marked with the number 2478 on the plan were formerly in the occupation of James Pearson then of Richard Walker, deceased. The said estate was formerly the property of Lydia Clough of Leicester, widow, upon whose death it became the property of Ann Rawson of Leicester from whom the said Henry Salkeld James Collingwood acquired the same. The said James Pearson and Richard Walker successively occupied the said lands forming lot 6 and lot 7 as tenants to the said Lydia Clough, Ann Rawson and Henry Salkeld James Collingwood for more than 40 years prior to Lady Day 1855. The remainder of the said lands were formerly in the occupation of Thomas Boden who was succeeded by John Skidmore, upon the termination of whose tenancy the said Richard Walker became the tenant and was succeeded by his representatives or executors who successively occupied the said lands as tenants to Lydia Clough, Ann Rawson and Henry Salkeld James Collingwood for more than 40 years prior to Lady Day, 1855.
