DescriptionStancliffe Hall in Darley Dale was built for the munitions magnate Sir Joseph Whitworth (1803-1887) in 1872. He had purchased the surrounding estate from the Shepley family. In 1890, after Sir Joseph's death, part of the estate was sold.
