Administrative History | The Browne family, originally from Kent, bought the Stretton estate from the Blount family, Lords Mountjoy, in the 1540s. This deed refers to the Stretton Hall later built by Charles Browne. When William Browne died in the mid 18th century, the estate passed by marriage to the Cave family who retained it until early in the 20th century and rebuilt the Hall. This building was demolished after World War II. |
