Administrative History
A private Roman Catholic Chapel primarily for the use of the Pole family of Eckington was established at Spinkhill by 1751. Subsequently this was served by members of the Society of Jesus [Jesuits] who founded a college there. This was succeeded in 1844 by Mount St Mary's College. In 1846 the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Spinkhill, opened.
