Administrative History | The manor of Brassington belonged to Henry de Ferrers at the time of the Domesday survey (c1086), but was subsequently divided into two moieties. One part remained with the Ferrers, subsequently became part of the the Duchy of Lancaster, and passed throught the hands of several families (Habord, Buxton, Newton) before being purchased by William Charlton and George Gregory. The other part of the manor passed through the hands of the Neville and Talbot families before being purchased by Robert Lowe in 1804. [Bulmer's Directory of 1895.] |
Custodial History | The records were deposited in the Derbyshire Record Office by the Steward of the Manor Court in December 1962. |
