Testator to be buried in Fenny Bentley church; wax offerings and suitable offerings to all ministers; best beast as mortuary; legacies to cathedral convents of Coventry and Lichfield; Testator's two daughters to have £40 each as portion on marriage, if unmarried 40 marks each; legacies to married daughter and children; Farm at Alstonfield, Staffordshire, to sons Robert and Lawrence; rents charged on 'take' or farm of Newton to testator's sons Edward and John for life with their mother Rewarde; Bequests to servants; testator's wife Agnes and son Thomas to find bed and board of one servant for life. Agnes to have half of take of Newton during life for self and children if she remains unmarried, if not, then to have 1/3 of goods with remainder to Thomas and heirs male or eldest living son; other half to Thomas Soul priest in Fenny Bentley for 1 year at £4 6s 8d salary; legacies to Warslow chapel, Ilkeston chapel, Onecote chapel, Sterndale chapel, Longnor chapel, Tideswell church and chapel of St Margaret, Wormhill. Testator's chattels to Agnes and Thomas. Executors to be Agnes and Lawrence; Overseer to be Mathew Kniveton and Aden Beresford.
