Administrative History
The Act for supplying with water the inhabitants of Clay Cross was enacted in in July 1856. Henry Greatorex (born 1822, Morton) served as Secretary and Manager probably until the waterworks were taken over by the new Clay Cross Urban District Council in 1894.
Custodial History
These records were deposited with Derbyshire Record Office by a member of the public in September 1975. Further items were added to the collection in November 2024 (see D1560/6-9 for further provenance of those items).
