| Arrangement | From at least 1891, Clay Cross Urban District Council assigned reference numbers to application files, with a numeral for the month and the last two digits of the year (e.g., 5/91 refers to an application in May 1891). In later years, a third reference was added to indicate the sequence in which applications were received within a month, e.g., 2/1946/8 refers to the eighth application in February 1946).
From at least 1948, a concurrent system including the initials CLC was also used at the beginning of an application reference. |
