Administrative HistoryThis is one of the ancient parishes in the county. Originally, it consisted of six townships: North Wingfield, Clay Lane, Pilsley, Stretton, Tupton and Woodthorpe. In 1852, a separate parish of Clay Cross was created (see D660) comprising Clay Lane, Stretton and Woodthorpe. In 1874, a separate parish of Pilsley (see D1435) was created. A team ministry now covers North Wingfield, Pilsley and Tupton.
