Administrative History | Michael Selby Crosse was born in 1909. He attended Lincoln Theological College and was ordained a priest in 1934. His first ecclesiastical appointment was as curate of the parish of St John, Derby. He later served as Chaplain of All Saints Cathedral Church in Derby (1938-1941) and Chaplain of the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve (1941-1946), as well as being Secretary to the Derby Diocesan Council of Youth (1940-1941). He spent the early years of his post-war career in Lincolnshire and Durham, before returning to Derbyshire as vicar of Taddington with Chelmorton (1964-1968) and Hazelwood (1968-1974). Over the same period, Mr Crosse was Rural Dean of Duffield (1970-1974). He was made Honorary Canon of Derby Cathedral in 1974, before moving to Gloucestershire the following year. |
