Memorandum of agreement between the Butterley Company and John Cowper Topham for seams or beds of coal in Ripley

Description
The agreement stipulates that John Cowper Topham relenquished his paid undivided eighth share in the seams of coal to the Butterley Company, for the term of forty two years from 25 March 1853. The coal lay under lands within forty five yards of Coppice Lane in Ripley.
With attached coloured plan of the property belonging to Mr John Cowper Topham in the township of Ripley, in the parish of Pentrich, dated 1854. Scale: 6 chains to an inch.
