DescriptionIndenture of release between (1) Etheldred Carver of Chesterfield, widow of Marmaduke Carver late of Chesterfield, gentleman, deceased, and sole executrix named in his will, (2) the Reverend John Simpson of Renishaw, parish of Eckington, clerk, and the Reverends John Griffith the younger, clerk, of Handsworth, county of York, devisees and residuary legatees in trust named in the last will of Marmaduke Carver, (3) John Owtram of Pratt Hall, parish of Brampton, yeoman, and (4) Joseph Newton of Ripley, yeoman, only son and heir of John Newton late of Ripley, gentleman, deceased.
Properties comprising 6 closes called the Street Lees (Coat Close, now divided into two closes, the Broad Meadow, the Little Close, the Fistley Close, the Lane and Lane Piece), two closes called the Weare Hay Close and the Mesne Close, and several closes of land called the Great Common, the Upper Common, the Little Common and the Sitch
Reciting indentures of lease and release 4-5 Oct 1745, lease and release 3-4 Feb 1742, and tripartite indenture 4 Feb 1742
In consideration of £300 and 5 shillings, tosecure the principal sum and 4¼ interest.
Parchment, 5 applied seals at bottom, with mark of Etheldred Carver and the signatures of Jno. Simpson, John Griffith junr., John Owtram and Joseph Newton.
