History
In 1974 with the Reorganisation of the Health Service Act all the Hospital Management Committees (established in 1948)were disbanded. The Trent Regional Health Authority became responsible for the geographic areas previously covered by the Sheffield Regional Hospital Board and hospital services in Derbyshire were coordinated by the new Derbyshire Area Health Authority of which there were three districts: North Derbyshire, Central Derbyshire, South Derbyshire
