Administrative History
A 1973 proposal for residential accommodation for four adolescents over school age led to the opening of Lyndenhurst in 1974. It was closed in 1996 being replaced by Newbold Road Family Centre (see DCC/SC/4). The building was once the home of the town's mayor, being three story's with very high ceilings.
