Account for £7162 17s 1d as at 14 Jul 1855; amounts in loan are due to bring in some interest instead of being left in bank with no interest; the two mortgages of Sir John are as left by him, with uncertainty over his fate prevented him from investing money in land with risk of it being called in at short notice; Mr Pitcairn [Sir John's solicitor in the colony] is the best auditor hey could have, with knowledge of affairs in colony and his high character
