Description
Reports expedition progress: arrived at post on 23 October after 600 mile journey from York Factory: describes varied landscapes, weather conditions and tree varieties observed during journey. Describes plans for further exploration: expects journey to Fort Chipewyan to take about 40 days. Commends Dr Richardson’s collection of plant, mineral and animal specimens; and drawings made by Back and Hood. Further specimens will be forwarded by Hudson’s Bay ship next season. Asks to be remembered to Mr Barrow.
