Frances (Fanny) Griffin, later Majendie (1788-1868), was the elder sister of Lady Franklin, second wife of the Arctic explorer Sir John Franklin, She was the eldest of three daughters of John Griffin and his wife Jane (nee Guillemard). On 18 Jan 1831 she married the geologist Ashurst Majendie of Hedingham Castle, Essex, at St George's Church, Bloomsbury,
