Administrative History | There is documentary evidence of Blakelow Farm being occupied from early in the nineteenth century. Samuel Slack (1875-1943) and his wife Hannah Taylor (1873-1961), both originally of Brassington, appear to have moved to Blakelow Farm in or about 1905. They remained there for the rest of their lives. Their grave in Brassington churchyard is marked by an inscribed headstone. Some of their children continued at Blakelow Farm, including John Arnold Slack (1910-1957) and Samuel Otho Slack (1903-1974). Their son Thomas Joshua Slack (1905-1969) was ultimately at the nearby Winster Moor Farm. |
