Administrative History
Gervaise Edward Taylor (1894-1973) was the son of Gervase and Sarah Taylor of Tansley. He enlisted on 5 August 1914 and is recorded as a Corporal in the Derbyshire Yeomanry on the Tansley Roll of Honour. In 1916 he married Elsie Thorpe and after the war he started Crich's bus service, 'My Lady Coach', which ran services to Ripley and Derby. (Reference: www.crichparish-ww1.co.uk/ww1webpages/taylorgervaise.html; www.crichparish.co.uk/webpages/myladycoach.html).
The 1925-1941 Kelly's Trade Directories describe Gervase Taylor as a car proprietor.
