Title
Research file: "Meerbrook Sough – Water Board and others"
Date
1961-1964
Description
This file refers to a survey of Meerbrook Sough, conducted in part to discover whether the sough flows into the Godbehere Mine (Cromford Moor Mine). Contents are largely correspondence from and to Doug Nash, much of it with South Derbyshire Water Board. The file also contains letters from Wirksworth Urban District Council, Derbyshire Stone Quarries Ltd and Dene Quarries (Derbyshire) Ltd, in response to Nash's invitation to the showing of his film on the survey of Meerbrook Sough.
In Nash's letter of 2 Dec 1961 to the Ilkeston and Heanor Water Board, he says that "by the nature of our society, all work we do must be free gratis, it being left entirely to any party for whom we undertake a task as to whether they wish to make a donation to our funds".
