Title
Louisa Ellis to Miss Brocksopp
Date
[1832]
Description
It is nearly a month since you left me and I scarce know how to address you, your conduct having been anything that a gentlewoman's; it was some time before I could believe you had deceived me after I treated you with such kindness; I positively quarrelled with the Colonel when he said you were a regular ? of deception; I would on no account have allowed my daughter to associate with you or introduce you to my friends; the Masons are quite indignant at it; I think it a duty to inform your guardian of your conduct; I know several families where you are now residing and shall make a point of letting them know; had you told me that the sum agreed between us was more than you could afford, I should have decreased it to accommodate you; as you did not do so, I must request you to send me the balance of £14 10s.
