Description
To J G Barnes all his real and personal estate upon trust to permit his wife Elizabeth Elliott to enjoy the household goods, furniture etc. for her life; and upon trust to sell the remainder of his personal estate and to call in all debts etc. to pay his funeral expenses and to pay £10 for clothes for his son Elias Elliott during the rest of his apprenticeship; to pay his eldest son Thomas Elliott £10, to pay his son Elias Elliott £40 and his daughter Mary Elliott £40; and upon trust to sell the real estate and invest the money arising therefrom with the money from the personal estate, the interest to be paid to his wife for life for the maintenance of herself and their daughter Mary, but if Mary marries during her mother's life she is to have his blue check bed with bedsteads, mattress, hangings, sheets and blankets; after his wife's death to sell the furniture etc. and stand seized of all the money in trust for Thomas, Elias and Mary in equal shares. Will dated 9 July 1825.
Codicil: after payment of his debts and funeral expenses, £20 to his niece Ellen Elliott and the remainder of his property, real and personal, to be divided between his sons Thomas and Elias Elliott and his daughter Mary Richardson (dated 17 July 1837). Proved at Chesterfield.
